Thoughtful Changes for a Thriving Consignment Experience

Curated Consignment

At The Roost Home and The Roost Consignment Boutique, our goal is to create a thriving consignment environment where quality pieces sell quickly, consignors receive the strongest possible return, and shoppers discover something new with every visit.

As we continue to grow and refine the experience at both stores, we are making a few thoughtful changes designed to better serve our consignors while maintaining the quality, value, and carefully curated selection our shoppers love.

Updates to Our Discount Program

We work hard to price every item fairly and competitively from the moment it arrives. Our prices are intentionally set to offer shoppers an exceptional value while respecting the consignor and the value of the pieces they have entrusted to us.

Moving forward (Sept. 1st 2026), we will no longer offer the following weekly discounts:

  • 15% off original-price items for seniors and students on Wednesdays
  • 10% off original-price furniture on Thursdays

Our regular markdown schedule will remain in place, with eligible items receiving a 15% markdown after four weeks. This gives every newly consigned piece an opportunity to sell at its original price before entering the markdown cycle.

Removing weekly discount days helps protect consignor earnings, particularly on newly arrived pieces that could previously receive both the promotional discount and the cash discount. It also allows us to keep our original prices as approachable as possible for every shopper, every day.

The Cash Discount Is Here to Stay

Shoppers can still enjoy 5% off their purchase when paying with cash, available every day at both The Roost Home and The Roost Consignment Boutique.

It is a simple perk everyone can enjoy, no special shopping day required.

A More Curated Clothing Selection

To create a stronger shopping experience and help accepted pieces sell more quickly, The Roost Consignment Boutique will no longer accept activewear, plain T-shirts, or tank tops unless they are from designer brands.

This allows us to devote our space to the styles and labels our shoppers are most excited to discover while helping consignors bring in pieces with the greatest potential to sell.

Please Select and Prepare Clothing Before Your Appointment

We kindly ask consignors to be selective when preparing clothing to bring to us. Items should arrive clean, neatly folded, and ready for our team to review.

We will no longer sort through clothing brought in garbage bags or large, unsorted bins. Thoughtfully preparing your items before arrival helps our team evaluate them efficiently and allows us to focus more time on displaying, promoting, and selling the pieces we accept.

Creating a Better Roost for Everyone

Every change we make is guided by the same purpose: to create a beautiful, ever-changing shopping experience while helping consignors earn more and sell their items as efficiently as possible.

We are incredibly grateful to the consignors who trust us with their pieces and to the shoppers who give those pieces a new place to belong. Thank you for helping us continue to make The Roost a thoughtfully curated destination for consignment in Suttons Bay.
